While Saint Francis was away the (Franciscan) brothers got approval from Rome to do what they wanted.  When Francis returned they told him it was impractical to have a path of poverty, for they had now accumulated lands and possessions.  It broke his heart.    -Messenger ECP:  Community, 2002, p. 245   (In 1322 Pope John XXII ruled against strict poverty for this Order.)

……………………………………………………………………………………………………….

the holy Order of Francis and Clare which has long been the underlying motive and purpose of many who serve here and throughout the field.  I wish to inaugurate this Order in this hour in a more organized way….

Obedience of our Order is to the one we call love–Christ….Obedience to the inner light and the inner calling…Chastity itself is purity….Poverty is the self-emptying that one might be filled….

And as you receive the mantle and the perception of the office you forge that Order and create out of it what needs be….May you remember also that the fulfillment of the Order of Francis and Clare in the etheric (over Srinagar) is now through the Order of the Brothers and Sisters of the Golden Robe….This Order is a means to an end and not an end in itself….Your reaction (to an experience) is the determination of your place on the ladder of attainment.     -Kuthumi:  1-27-1985 at Camelot, Los Angeles
